Nearshore there are many artificial reefs that hold good numbers of Atlantic Bonito, Bluefish, Amberjacks, Barracudas and Spanish & King Mackeral.

Inshore fishing area has four inlets to fish within eight miles of Wrightsville Beach as well as miles of sloughs, creeks and sandbar flats. Here the targets are Flounder, Red Drum and Trout. During the hot days of mid-to-late summer Sailfish move in following large schools of baitfish, sometimes as close as 1/2 mile from the inlets. Dolphin also become players during this time as well as Tarpon.

Cape Lookout in the fall is a special place as anglers from all over the country come to test their abilities on the rocketships known as the false albacore. Come experience this world class fishery. Other possibilities include sightcasting to Redfish, Large Spanish Mackeral and Giant Amberjacks.
