Cars and trucks are a great medium for expressing yourself through customization and the addition of custom parts. You can add body panels, grills, tires, or wheels to your vehicle to really make it stand out and show the world who you are. When you get really to start adding parts, make sure you do some research to ensure they will work together then have fun showing the world how you think your car should look. Custom Grills There are many grill options for cars and trucks alike. Checking with a parts supplier like Parts Max would be a good way to see what’s available. If you do some research into the options, you will find paintable ABS plastic grilles, chrome grilles, and even hi-tech carbon fiber grilles. Pick out one that best suits your theme or design idea then show it off to the world. Install a replacement grille is not too difficult but if you run into trouble, check with a body shop as they will know how to disassemble the grille. Fenders and Flares If you are adding wide, low profile tires to your car, aftermarket fenders are available with a little wider lip on them so they will extend out over the wider tire. Are You In Sales And Travel With Products? Look Into These Anti-Theft Auto Options

Posted by on Jul 29, 2016 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Are You In Sales And Travel With Products? Look Into These Anti-Theft Auto Options

If you work in sales and you often have to travel with product or supplies in your car, and it makes you worry that someone is going to break-in to the vehicle, make sure that you take extra precautions to protect the vehicle and the items inside of it. Leaving the vehicle in a public parking lot or anywhere overnight with valuables inside can be risky if you don’t have the proper protection, so look at the following options. Install an Improved Auto Security System Spend the money to invest in a security system for the vehicle. This system can be installed and controlled from your central electronic system if your car is newer, and if there isn’t a control panel in the dash of your car then you should be able to get a system that is controlled by your smartphone. This system can help to protect your car from a break-in, and since the security system isn’t a factory standard feature it will be harder for others to try to disarm it. Tint Your Car Windows If people can’t see what’s inside your car, then they can’t see that you have something they may want to steal. Having the car windows tinted isn’t just going to help you maintain privacy and prevent theft and interest in your car, but it’s also going to help you keep the car cooler in the summer. Tint also prevents UV damage throughout the interior. The tint keeps wandering eyes out, allows you to work privately inside the car without people seeing you, and keeps your car cooler in warmer weather. Improve Your Auto Insurance Coverage Make sure your auto insurance coverage policy will cover all of the things that you have in your car in case something happens and someone breaks in or you get in an accident. This can save you financially if you wouldn’t have the funds to replace all of the items that you carry with you when you travel, or the items that you keep in the car. If you are in sales and you are always worried that people see you get in and out of your car with a bunch of products or a bunch of equipment, or you worry that someone is going to walk by the vehicle and break-in to steel what you have inside, it’s time to improve the security. Look at these options and get the best insurance coverage possible. For more information, talk to a professional like SML Window...

Debunking The Biggest Misconceptions Concerning Aluminum Trailers

Posted by on Apr 8, 2016 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Debunking The Biggest Misconceptions Concerning Aluminum Trailers

When you are in the market for a trailer, whether it be a trailer built for everyday hauling or something for hauling livestock, you will be faced with two primary choices when it comes to material: aluminum or steel. While both aluminum and steel have their advantages and shortcomings, aluminum definitely tends to get the worst of the deal when it comes to myths and misconceptions. By getting to know the misconceptions about aluminum trailers and the actual facts, you may just find that aluminum is just as good — if not better — as an option when it comes to utility trailers. Misconception: Aluminum trailers are just as heavy as steel trailers. Fact: If you will take a look at some of the other vehicular manufacturing endeavors, you will see that aluminum and aluminum alloys have taken the place of steel in everything from regular cars and trucks to space shuttles. This is due to the fact that aluminum is much lighter in weight than steel, which means an aluminum trailer will most definitely not be as heavy as a steel trailer of the same design. Along with this misconception comes the common myth that much more aluminum would have to be used to achieve the same strength and durability as steel, but this is also just a myth. Misconception: Aluminum trailers have a lower resale value than steel trailers. Fact: There is one big reason why this is absolutely false. Steel is prone to rust and corrosion over time, whereas aluminum is not. You could have a steel trailer for only a few years and it may look like it has truly been weathered, but aluminum on the other hand will likely still look as good as new. Therefore, you would likely be able to recoup your investment costs easier with an aluminum trailer that still looks good than you would with a steel trailer that is starting to show signs of rust and corrosion. Misconception: Even aluminum trailers have steel parts, which shows aluminum is not as strong. Fact: It is true that some aluminum trailers have steel components. For example, a trailer may be totally aluminum except for the axles. This does not mean that aluminum is any less string or durable, only that steel makes a better fit for certain components. Finding a trailer that is mostly aluminum with some steel components only shows that the manufacturer truly thought out the design of the trailer and how it would function best. Get Your Bicycle Ready For Winter

Posted by on Dec 13, 2015 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Get Your Bicycle Ready For Winter

If you plan to continue to bike to and from work this winter, you need to make sure that your bike is ready for winter weather. Here are a few tips to help you get your bicycle ready for winter riding. Treat Your Bike Frame To Resist Rust One of the biggest challenges of riding in the winter time is keeping your bicycle in good shape. All the salt on the road can quickly eat away at the frame of your bike. Washing your bike and keeping it clean is one good way to make sure that your frame does not become rusted during the winter months. However, you can take further steps to protect your bike from rust as well. You can spray your bike with a rust inhibitor spray. First, you will need to clean your bike and remove all dirt and build-up from it. Then, you’ll want to take your bike to a well-ventilated area and put on a mask and some goggles. Finally, you’ll want to remove the cap on the rust inhibitor spray you purchased from your local auto parts store and spray your entire bike frame with it. Work top to bottom, left to right with sweeping motions. Once the rust inhibitor dries, apply a second coat to your bike. This should protect your bike frame from getting rusty this winter. Apply A Slippery Coating In order to keep your bike clean and keep the dirt off it, after you apply the rust inhibitor and let it dry, you should apply a slippery coating. A slippery coating is a silicone spray that is designed to create a slippery surface on your bike frame so that dirt and mud just slides right off instead of getting stuck to your bike. Just like with the rust inhibitor, you should spray this on your bike frame in a well-ventilated area while wearing goggles and a face mask. Lubricate Your Bike Chain Next, you need to lubricate your bike chain. Keeping your bike chain lubricated will make it last longer and will make it run more smoothly over your cassette and your chain set. It is best to apply lube to a clean bike; you should apply the lube after you wash your bike and apply the rust inhibitor. Use a wet lube for your chains. Wet lube works best on bike chains in the winter months because they continue to work effectively even when it is rainy, snowy and freezing outside. Web lubes also tend to last longer than other types of lubes designed for your bike chain. Make sure your bike is ready for winter by applying a rust inhibitor coat and slippery silicone coating to the frame. Don’t forget to lubricate your bike chain as well. You can pick up most of these supplies at a local auto parts...

Some Considerations When Your Car’s Transmission Is Not Working Properly

Posted by on Dec 11, 2015 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Some Considerations When Your Car’s Transmission Is Not Working Properly

The transmission of a car is an extremely important mechanism that contains interconnected parts and gears linked to a car’s wheels that powers a car to move. Needless to say, if you need to have the transmission repaired on your car, you must do it immediately. There are several repair options available and following are just a few of them. Replenish the Transmission Fluid – The first thing to do is to check that you have adequate, clean transmission fluid in the car. As all makes of cars are different, you must refer to the owner’s manual to find out how to check your car’s transmission fluid. While you check the transmission fluid, carefully examine it to see that the fluid is clear, clean, and moving freely. If not, then you cannot merely add more new transmission fluid, you must empty the transmission of whatever fluid it contains and replenish it with new transmission fluid. If refreshing or flushing and replenishing your car’s transmission fluid does not cure the problem, then you need more extensive repairs.  Replace the Transmission – This is a tricky solution for a car with transmission problems. A car’s transmission is installed when it is initially manufactured. New transmissions are not available to purchase for an existing car. You can find a used transmission, but those parts may come with another set of problems that belong to another car. It is best to try to repair the transmission that you already have in your car.  Rebuild the Transmission – This is a complicated option for your car. You must remove the transmission from the engine of your car, disassemble it, clean all of the gears and parts, and then examine them to find the gears and parts that are faulty. You must then find substitute parts for those that seem to be faulty, install those parts, reassemble the transmission and make sure that it runs correctly. This option truly takes a trained mechanic.  Remanufacture the Transmission – A remanufactured transmission is much the same as a rebuilt transmission except that all of the remanufacturing is done in a factory. Gears and parts specific to your car’s make and model are found, cleaned, reshaped, refinished, and refitted into an appropriate transmission housing. The remanufactured transmission is then tested to make sure it runs smoothly and produces enough power to drive a car. This is another instance that calls for a trained mechanic.  A transmission problem in a car is a serious condition that needs to be addressed immediately if you wish to continue to drive the car. If you do not have experience with car transmissions, you should take your car to a mechanic to have your car’s transmission examined and thoroughly evaluated to diagnose the exact cause of the problems. If your car is out of warranty, you do not have to take it to a dealership. Find a transmission repair in Norfolk VA auto mechanic that can help you get your car back in running order....

Swirl Paint Your Truck Cap

Posted by on Nov 24, 2015 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Swirl Paint Your Truck Cap

If you are looking for a way to add some creative graphics to parts on your truck, then you may want to consider swirl painting your truck cap. Swirl painting is easy to do and a lot of fun. It can be done on metal, plastic, fiberglass, and many other materials. Best of all, it gives you a great-looking final product that can’t be duplicated. Follow the instructions detailed below to swirl paint your truck cap. Gather the supplies you’ll be needing The truck cap A plastic pool large enough to easily fit the cap A second person to help you dip the cap (more if it is for a larger truck) Oil based paint in the colors of your choosing Water Tape A stir stick Spray enamel Prepare your work area Fill the pool with a lot of water while making sure there is going to also be enough room for you to completely dip the entire cap that you are going to be swirl painting. You want the water to be about room temperature. Tape the windows Use tape to tape off the window frames. Getting paint on the windows isn’t a big deal since you can clean it off later with a razor blade, but it’s easier to protect them. Since the cap will only be submerged for a short amount of time, you don’t need to worry about the tape coming off. Prepare for painting One you put the water into the pool, let it settle so it’s no longer moving. Then, choose your colors and put in the first drops of paint. Hold the paint container right above the water and slowly drop the paint in, a little bit at a time, until you have enough of that color. Move on to the next color and do the same thing. Make sure you have the right amount of all the colors by continuing to add in more drops until you get the desired effect. Paint the truck cap Take the stir stick and very slowly stick the point of it in the water, using it to pull the paint around until you get a nice swirl look you think will work best. Take your truck cap, with a second person helping you, and hold it at about a 30-degree angle above the water. Slowly dip it all the way down into the water until the water is covering it completely. Allow it to dry Slowly shake the truck cap back and forth a few times to break up any leftover paint still on the surface of the water. Pull the truck cap out and set it right side up to dry completely. Once it has dried, cover it with a clean enamel and allow that to dry. This is a great way for you to have fun painting your own truck. It will also give you a paint job like no other out there. If you need a truck cap for this project, contact a company like J & C...

Air Compressors For Jeeps

Posted by on Nov 2, 2015 in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Air Compressors For Jeeps

When you get into four-wheeling, you begin to realize that little things can make a big difference. For example, the amount of air in your tires can affect the traction you get in different terrain. Changing the amount of air in your tires is easy as long as you are trying to take air out, but putting more air back in gets problematic. There are several options for choosing a portable air compressor, and the features of each one will affect your ride in different ways.  Stand-Alone Models You can buy some air compressors that will come as a package that you can move from vehicle to vehicle as needed. Most of these will have a power converter that plugs into the cigarette lighter in your jeep. If you have more than one vehicle, then a stand-alone model might be a good idea. On the other hand, it will take up cargo space in your vehicle and might be damaged by other cargo in your car. Furthermore, you may misplace your compressor and/or leave it behind. While these models offer a good option, they are not the only choice.  Bumper-Mounted Models If you are serious about four-wheeling, you will likely need a wench. When you are mud-bogging, a wench can help you to get unstuck, and when you are rock-crawling, a wench can help you to get up dangerously steep inclines. A wench is typically mounted to your front bumper, and you can find bumper-mounted air compressors either as a separate unit or as a combo with a wench. Not only will a bumper mounted model be hard to lose, but it will be hard-wired to your car. This means that you don’t have to worry about the wiring getting damaged and rendering your compressor useless when you need it most. The one disadvantage of a bumper-mounted compressor is that it can make it can interfere with your approach angle, making it difficult to clear some obstacles.  A stand-alone air compressor will usually be cheaper than a bumper-mounted model. Not only is the compressor itself cheaper, but you don’t have to worry about the labor involved in installing it on your bumper. Thus, you might want to start with a stand-alone compressor and then build up to a bumper-mounted model. For serious four-wheelers, adjusting the quality of your traction will allow you to go places and clear obstacles that taunt weekend warriors. The right compressor will allow you to adjust your traction as needed. To learn more about jeep accessories, contact a company near...
